| Sports and exercise have been a big part of my life since childhood. I played soccer, basketball, softball, did gymnastics, and have a dance background. My degree is in dental hygiene and I worked as a hygienist for 17 years, until health issues forced me to quit. Realizing that I needed a new path and rehabilitation time for my body, I began a Pilates class with Valerie Kitchen in 2007.
That was the beginning of my interest in Pilates. My new life as a Pilates instructor started with mat training. I completed Reformer training in 2008, and Ladder Barrel and Stability Chair training in 2009. I am presently being trained on Cadillac, and will soon sit for the Pilates certification exam. I have been apprenticing under Valerie Kitchen at Valance Fitness Studio since 2007. I have completed additional training with Martha Kittle at Body Symmetry in Brunswick, Maine, and am also certified in Cardiolates, which is a combination of Pilates and rebounding on a mini-trampoline.
